Located about 15 minutes drive north of Blenheim is the dog-friendly Rarangi Beach. Let your pooch run free on the long, stony beach, wander along the water’s edge and enjoy the view of the Wither Hills.

Rarangi Beach in Blenheim is a hidden gem that locals love but often flies under the radar of tourists. It’s a long, pebbly stretch of coastline that offers stunning views of the rugged Marlborough coastline and the Cook Strait. The beach is perfect for a peaceful walk, where the rhythmic sound of waves and the fresh sea breeze can be incredibly soothing.

One of the unique features of Rarangi Beach is the large sand dunes and the nearby wetlands, which are home to a variety of bird species. It’s a great spot for birdwatchers and nature enthusiasts. The beach isn’t crowded, making it ideal for those looking to escape the hustle and bustle and enjoy some solitude.

For adventurers, there’s a track that leads to Monkey Bay, a small, secluded bay with crystal-clear water that’s perfect for a quick swim or snorkel. The path is a bit of a climb but definitely worth the effort for the breathtaking views at the top.

Rarangi Beach is also dog-friendly, so it’s a fantastic place to bring your furry friend for a run. Make sure to always keep an eye out for your dog as the water can get quite rough and seals occasionally visit the beach.

Along the beach, you can also find Rarangi Beach DOC campsite which is also dog-friendly (with a permit).
