Off-leash | Dog Park | Not fully fenced | Good for hot days but also exposed to the weather

The southern-most 18 hole Links Golf Course which opened in 1971, was closed as a golf course in 2018. This roughly 60 hectares has now become a large off-leash dog area located in Otatara, Invercargill.  (Found at the end of Links Rd).

Although this is not solely recognised as a dog only area, there are dog waste bags and disposal bins located near the old club house car park. What was once beautifully manicured greens has been reclaimed by the costal area with tussocks and long grass. Even though the majority of the course is open and prone to costal weather there are plenty of large pine areas to break the wind and provide shelter.  There are plenty of mown strips to allow wandering around the large course area or walking off the paths and exploring the dunes/hills.

There is a pond area that is generally safe for dogs to swim in (like any water source check the algae).  Regular dog walk rules apply, if off-leash you must still keep your dog under control and clean up your dogs waste. (please note this is NOT a fenced in area)
