Dogs on leash | Distance: 1.1km | Duration: 1h | Difficulty: Medium | Elevation gain: 216m

Over the past years, Clevedon Scenic Reserve (also known as Camp Sladdin) has moved from being a hidden gem to a popular weekend loop walk for people with and without dogs.

The scenic reserve is not for the faint of heart as it pretty much consists of stairs and a total elevation of just over 200m in a short time. A wooden boardwalk leads you through the lush green forest, and up many stairs to the lookout at the summit where you get an amazing 360° view. On a clear day, you can see the Sky Tower in the distance on one side and the Coromandel coast on the other.

Dogs are allowed to join you on this fitness walk. Please keep them on a leash and try and keep them on the boardwalk as much as possible (same for yourself) as there are kauri trees growing in the reserve. This dog-friendly loop walk is protected from the elements by trees and a great walk in all weather (it can get a bit muddy and slippery in rain).

A walk in Clevedon Scenic Reserve is especially popular on Sundays, in combination with a visit to the also dog-friendly Clevedon Farmers Market.
